Ah, the sights, sounds and smells of a kindergarten farm trip. Alison's class got to pet lambs, piglets, and kids! Her favourite part was the bunnies. Either that or the playground.
We had a lovely mom's day today, from teaching the girls to make breakfast, taking the dog to the park, and roller skating along the river. It was sunny and warm and we had Indian food on the deck. What a great day!
Happy Mother's Day to all the other moms out there. Here is our annual Mother's Day shot - I think I may be showing my age, or my inability to apply sunscreen.
Tonight Sarah advanced from Brownies to Girl Guides. Hardly imaginable how that girl is so big already! There was a big celebration at a nearby park where Sparks went up to Brownies (but not Alison yet, still another year to go), Brownies to Guides, and Guides to Pathfinders. The guides sang a beautiful song to welcome the new Brownies, and I think Sarah is really going to like joining this group that sings such songs. Our lovely singer will fit right in!
Alison was quite upset that she doesn't get to go to Brownies for a whole year longer. She did, however, enjoy the hot dog and Doritos they served, as well as the giant glob of bubblegum she won in the games.
The lifties at Lake Louise are really good at helping out with with little kids on the chair lift. One day as we approached the chair, the liftie said, "I'll help the future Olympic ski champ."
Alison turned to us and said, "How does he know I'm such a fast skier?"
Last week was our March Break and we took a little vacation to Canmore. It's not too far from Lake Louise (we made 6 trips there in the 10 days), and we were able to get away from it all, sort of.
It didn't take the girls long to discover the children's channels on the tv...
It was very quiet at Temple Lodge mid-week. We spent some time walking around Canmore. Alison was trying to hide behind me, but I wouldn't let her!
Last weekend, Sarah participated in the Doug Meyers Memorial Race at Lake Louise. She had a great time, and is certainly improving. Check out the look of determination, and can't you just see the speed? She's awesome!
