Ski Racer

It was a snowy day at Lake Louise when Sarah set off on her first ski races. Woo Hoo! She clearly beat her teammates on a video too big to upload or email (sorry, you'll just have to take my word for it) and she had a lot of fun. Not too mention a bag of candy waiting at the end. Who needs gold medals when there's chocolate?

Spacey Teeth

One of the best things about losing your baby teeth (aside from the visits from the tooth fairy) is the big space left in your smile. Here, Alison shows us one great way to use that space - you can stick your tongue through it!

Spider Girl

There is a great playground at our neighbourhood school. One of the neatest things is a big spider-web of ropes to climb.

Alison tackled it a few days ago. And she rocked!

Brownie Academy

Sarah spent her day at Brownie camp, learning all sorts of new skills.

Smiling.

And playing with matches.

Safety first!

What happened to winter?

I may be jinxing myself, but winter has been conspicuously absent in Cowtown this season. The hill is the same colour as the puppy. The new snowshoes from Gramma and Grampa await their use. And Rustle can hardly wait to get back to catching snowballs in his mouth

Pack Mule

Alison wanted to help carry some of our stuff to the lodge. She took the back pack with our lunches, but I think it may be a bit big for her.

Sarah Super Skier

Our super skiing Sarah received her certificates for completing the first two levels of the new Nancy Greene "Snow Stars" program. Bob and I aren't actually sure what some of the lingo means in the next section ("straddle brush dual", anyone?) but the head coach says it takes a lot of practice and a lot of testing. So, Go Sarah! You rock!

Kindergarten Skating

Alison's class went skating on Wednesday. It was a great time, we walked to the C-train station from the school, rode the train to the arena and skated happily away for an hour. Tired and happy children returned for a snack at school before heading home.

Alison thought it was one of the best days because there was no school work to do all day. How great is that?

Here is the class in a group lesson.

And here is Alison practicing what they were teaching.

Rustle goes to Brownies

As part of their Chinese New Year celebrations, Sarah's Brownie group invited all the puppies to help them bring in the Year of the Dog.

Of the 10 or so dogs present, Rustle was the only misbehaving puppy. The owner of the 5 year old golden retriever assured me I only have another year of the exuberant, jumpy pup to go, then he'll settle down. The scared little Brownies and I only hope he's right.

An Ali-Conversation

J: "Alison, the camera is cold."

A: "Give it a sweater, Mommy."

J: "Maybe I should give it a nice warm bath."

A: "Now that's just plain silly."
