May 2 4

As in 2 tuques and 4 mittens, please.

We awoke this morning to a cold and snowy day. What fun is that?

Well, plenty, says Rustle...

Sparks End

Alison and her mom's adventures in Sparks came to an end recently.

The big unit wrap up party was held at a bowling alley. The girls had a lot of fun trying to make a ball reach the end of the lane....

The big district Sparks Camp was held at Camp Jubilee on Mother's Day weekend. Alison is still not a big fan of cleaning up. At least she found something interesting to do with the latex gloves.

The indoor campfire was interesting, but Alison's favourite thing was getting to use the outhouses. At least she says so now...

Recent Events

We've been back from vacation for over ten days now and I am still not completely finished unpacking. We seemed to have jumped immediately back into the swing of things, so here is a quick update of goings-on.

The day after we flew home from Hawaii was our last day of Nancy Greene skiing at Lake Louise. We spotted Sarah's group doing jumps in the Whitehorn bowl and I grabbed my camera, but Sarah did a teeny hop, so not exciting coverage, but here it is:

Alison got her Level 2 "Parallel Skier" and a certificate from her coaches, calling her "The Skier with the Most Personality." Fitting.

Two days later was Alison's advancement ceremony from Sparks to Brownies. I have no pictures of the event, but a live action video without fancy edits or music. I hope I haven't raised expectations too high...

Sarah's Girl Guide group spent their last meeting playing laser tag. She said it was fun.

Soccer season is now upon us. Sarah starts tomorrow and Alison next week. The weather is becoming spring-like and the sun is gracing us with its presence for my 6 am dog walks as well as for evening strolls in the park.

Maui

What an amazing, relaxing vacation. We had a wonderful time in Maui, but then we came home on the red eye and went skiing the next day and we are still a little sleepy.

Some photos until I can create a coherent post.

Skating Carnival 2007

At the end of skating season, the girls each performed in the annual Carnival to showcase the talents of the many wonderful skaters. Sarah performed another rousing rendition of her Dutch waltz (as seen here) and Alison's group did an ensemble routine to fan-favourite, "Summer Lovin'" from the Grease soundtrack (choreographed by her wonderful skating coach, Louise, seen above).

What's that you say? No fancy editing job this time around? Unfortunately, I'm too busy packing up for our Spring Break vacation to Maui to produce a fancy new video. The standard fare will have to do for now. I'll just have to wait until we get back before another attempt at video-editing.

I know they have computers in Maui, but I will definitely NOT be using one. Stay tuned April 14th-ish for my next update!

Report Card Day

Today my beautiful girls brought home fabulous report cards. It appears that their teachers agree that these two are brilliant and wonderful. It's not just me.

In other news, the video I made of Alison's ski race is now available a few posts ago. I am significantly amused by my newfound video-editing skills, please let me know what you think.

Oh, in case you don't feel like scrolling down the page....

Happy Birthday, Rustle

Our fuzzy boy turned 2 today. His day was made extra special by the presentation of a lovely kibble/peanut butter/biscuit cake, made with love by his girls.

Here, the pup shakes a paw.

Happy Birthday, Rustle McGustle.

In other, exciting news, Sarah passed her Dutch Waltz test yesterday. She wouldn't pose for a picture, so here she is running around the dressing room. Silly goose.

Plus, her choir entered a competition today and made the final cut for this Saturday. It's a big time of year for the competing, isn't it?

Ski Racers

It was a big weekend for Rustle's girls. Both of the young skiers raced in the Doug Meyer's Memorial Cup at Lake Louise, and both skied their very best. It was a proud moment for both parents, watching Sarah tuck the last gates, and watching Alison give all she had in her first ever race.

Girls in bibs:

Video 1: Sarah's final run. Listen to the boys beside me, who were sadly disappointed that the girl they knew LOST to the girl we know. Ha. The big "Yeah!" at the end is me.

Video 2: I got a bit creative with the Alison video and I'm still hoping to get it posted. The original is too long since I also tried to capture the race that Alison's friend Renee was running beside her. So, it may take some time, but it will come soon.

So, the creative version is still not uploading. Here's the original, too long, uncut version. For now.

Edit#2 I think I have the new video. I'll post it now and see what happens...

Saturday morning slackers

The ladies are really busy little people, what with activities 6 days a week. It's a busy life.

That's why they make sure they squeeze every last bit of lazy out of a Saturday morning in front of the t.v.
